About Dan
Having graduated with a first class degree in music performance from the Royal Northern College of Music and The University of Manchester, Dan works within pop, jazz, theatre and classical music genres, performing at 100+ events and shows across the UK and abroad each year.
As an excellent sight-reader and improviser, Dan enjoys performing within a range of productions both as a soloist and with horn sections, big bands and orchestras across the UK and Europe. Recent theatre shows include Totally Tina, The Marvin Gaye Songbook, Think Floyd, The James Bond Concert Spectacular, Sham Fender and Dire Streets. As a session musician, Dan has recorded with local pop/jazz artists through to larger ensembles such as Manchester Videogame Orchestra and the Country Classical Orchestra. Dan is grateful to have played with groups live on BBC Radio, headlined festivals across the UK and Spain, and performed in world-class venues such as The Wigmore Hall.
With a dynamic presence on the Sax/DJ scene, Dan regularly performs at events alongside DJs such as Robert Burian, Manchild and DesiJockeys, impressing audiences both local (e.g. Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse) as well as abroad in France, Italy, Spain and Slovakia.
As an ensemble musician, Dan is a founding member of the Spark Duo, Arcus Saxophone Quartet and Spectrum Saxes. He relishes the opportunity these groups provide to nurture a diverse musical palate which bridges the gap between the classical and jazz worlds.
Dan plays soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, and often sings backing/lead vocals within a range of genres. He also plays AKAI and Roland Electronic Wind Instruments (EWI).
With Grade 8 qualifications in saxophone, drum kit, singing and acting, Dan delivers private instrument tuition to students of all abilities in a friendly and positively challenging environment.
